This is the minitiature version of the popular attiny13a flashlight driver controller.  It can use all of the same firmware and features of the bigger SSU variant.  

These units are made available for those who want to reflow these chips onto your own drivers.

Available as both bare unflashed and pre-programmedFor all FW options there may be a 1-3 business day handling time for the programming. 

PROGRAMMING FIRMWARE OPTIONS.  Different options are available for 7135 and FET based drivers, both clicky and momentary.  Please choose the appropriate firmware type for the type of driver you would like to build.  


7135 Based Clicky Firmware:

This firmware allows the ultimate in user customizability, with 22 built-in mode groups, that the user can select via a series of button presses and a user programmable turbo timer (see below for instructions).

Guppydrv ​Instructions

To switch mode groups: rapidly tap the switch 8 times, the light will then enter the programming mode and begin to flash.  With the light in programming mode, tap the switch the same number of times as your desired mode group.  The light will blink and your mode group will be memorized. 

 

Example: To select mode group 3, tap the switch 8 times quickly to enter programming mode.  As soon as the light enters programming mode and starts flashing, tap the switch three times (for group 3).  The light will blink to recognize the mode group change.

 

To set the turbo timer: rapidly tap the switch 8 times, the light will then enter the programming mode and begin to flash.  With the light in programming mode, tap the switch 30 times to enter the turbo timer set mode.  The light will then switch to 100% power.  When the light is at the desired temperature for the turbo step down, turn the light off.  The turbo timer will then be set.  Turbo timer drops down to 50% output.

 

To lock the mode groups: Solder Star 2 to ground.  The other stars have no function with this firmware. 

 


 

STAR Off-Time Firmware

This firmware will allow you to fully customize your light!  Moonlight and mode order are all selectable via solderable stars (see below).

When selecting this option, please define the following in your checkout comments:

  1. Number of light levels:  up to 6 (plus moonlight).
  2. Approximate output levels of each mode.  Example:  (1) 2% - (2) 15% - (3) -  50%  (4) - 100%
  3. Approximate Turbo Timer stepdown time:  15 to 120 seconds.

Off-time changes the way that the memory function works, making it much more intuitive to use.  If "memory" is chosen, one tap will always change modes and switching the light off will always save the last mode used.  If "no memory" is chosen, the light will always switch modes with a single tap, but will return to the first mode after the light has been switched off.  

Because Star 4 is occupied by the capacitor with this firmware, you must choose whether or not you want memory when placing your order. 


 

NLITE firmware: 

  • With both mode groups, you can choose whether you would like the mode order to ascend or descend, i.e. L-->M-->H (ascending) or H-->M-->L (descending)
  • You can also choose whether or not your would like mode memory.  If you choose "no memory", the light will always start on either low or high (depending on ascending or descending configuration) after being turned off. 

NLITE Turbo Timer:  Same features as normal NLITE firmware but with an automatic step down to medium power after either 90 or 120 seconds.  The user can immediately kick the light back up to high mode if needed.  This is GREAT for the MT-G2 mods and any smaller light pushing a lot of power!  Helps prevent accidental overheating.

FET Based Firmware:

Standard FET Clicky Firmware Options

  • Standard FET with Memory.  This is the most popular option.  Equipped with off-time memory, mode changes are intuitive and the light always picks right back up where you left off. 
    • Mode Levels:  Moonlight (Solder #2 to ground) - 2% - 5% - 20% - 50% - 100%
  • Standard FET with No Memory.  This is the second most popular option.  Equipped with off-time no memory, the light will always start on the first mode level after being turned off.  
  • Custom Mode Levels.  Choose your own mode levels.  For this option, please enter the following information in your checkout comments:  
    • 1.  Number of light levels: 1-6 (plus moonlight if desired)
    • 2.  Approximate PWM levels of each mode:  Example: (1) 2% - (2) 15% - (3) 40% - (4) - 100%
    • 3.  Memory or No Memory

Clicky Pin Functions.  Soldering these numbered pins to ground will enable these features:

  • enables moonlight mode.
  • reverses mode order from the standard ascending (low to high) to descending (high to low).

Standard Clicky Firmware Low Voltage Protection.  At around 3V under load, the light will blink three times then step down the power level.  At around 2.6V under load the light will blink ten times then shut off.  This system gives you ample warning and attempts to extend runtime before turning the light off.  


FET guppydrv Clicky Firmware Option

This firmware allows the ultimate in user customizability, with 24 built-in mode groups, that the user can select via a series of button presses and a user programmable turbo timer that will automatically step the power down to 50% after the set time is hit (see below for instructions).  

 

Low voltage protection:  With 1S cells (non-zener mod) the light will begin to step down output at around 2.8v under load.  The light will not shut completely off, but will continue to run at a moonlight level.  

  • Zener mod drivers will have no low voltage protection with guppydrv.  If you want low voltage rampdown, please choose one of the standard or custom firmware options.

FET Electronic Switch Firmware Options

  • Standard FET Electronic Switch.  This is for use with an external electronic switch, where the driver is always powered, not for use with a standard clicky switch where power is cut by the switch to change modes.  This option uses STAR momentary firmware, which allows you to start on either the lowest or highest mode from off with either a short tap or long press of the switch.  
    • One side of the switch is soldered to ground, the other to the pre-tinned switch pad on the driver (connected to pin 2).
  • Custom Mode Levels.  Choose your own mode levels.  For this option, please enter the following information in your checkout comments:  
    • 1.  Number of light levels: 1-6 (plus moonlight if desired)
    • 2.  Approximate PWM levels of each mode:  Example: (1) 2% - (2) 15% - (3) 40% - (4) - 100%
  • Not recommended for use with the Zener Mod option (see below).

Standard Electronic Switch Firmware Low Voltage Protection.  At around 3V under load, the light will step down the power level.  At around 2.6V under load the light will shut off.  You can override any low voltage shut down by holding down the electronic switch button.  This system gives you ample warning and attempts to extend runtime before turning the light off.
